After 2 weeks of its global debut, the iPhone 16 lineup is ready to go on sale. Launched on September 9, the series includes 4 smartphones: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The series will be available for purchase at the two official Apple stores in India (in Mumbai and Delhi) and at other third-party retailers like Amazon, Flipkart, Croma and more. But before you go down the store, you must ask two questions: “Should you buy it?” and “What is the best price you can get?” Here is what you should know.
In India, the iPhone 16 is priced at Rs 79,900 and the iPhone 16 Plus will be available at Rs 89,900. The iPhone 16 Pro, on the other hand, comes with a starting price tag of Rs 1,19,900 in India. The most premium, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, will cost you Rs 1,44900 in the Indian market. But you can get it at a lower price. Let’s see how.
iPhone 16 buyers can avail of two exciting offers: instant savings up to Rs 5000 with American Express, Axis Bank, and ICICI Bank cards, and no-cost EMI options for 3-6 months from leading banks.
If you are an iPhone user, you can get a great deal with Apple Trade-in deals. For instance, if you are an iPhone 13 user, you can get up to Rs 25,000 off by exchanging your device. Apple is offering a discount ranging from Rs 4000 to Rs 67,500 when exchanging their old devices. This discount can be applied directly toward the purchase of a new iPhone 16, and the entire process can be completed online as well. Read more on how Apple Trade-in works.
Apple has unveiled the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, made with “aerospace-grade aluminum” and featuring a new colour-infused backglass. The devices come in ultramarine, teal, pink, white, and black colours. The iPhone 16 has a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Plus offers a larger 6.7-inch screen.
The iPhone 16 Pro models come in a new gold colour and feature the Camera Control button. The iPhone 16 Pro has a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max boasts a 6.9-inch screen, the largest ever on an iPhone. Both models have thinner borders and always-on 120Hz ProMotion displays. The Pro models are available in Black Titanium, White Titanium, Natural Titanium, and a new Desert Titanium colour.
The iPhone 16 and its Plus model are powered by Apple’s latest A18 chipset, which uses second-generation 3nm technology. The A18 chip comes with a 6-core CPU, featuring 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. Meanwhile, iPhone 16 Pro models are powered by advanced A18 Pro chipset. The A18 Pro includes next-gen machine learning accelerators, faster USB 3 speeds, and ProRes video recording support.
The iPhone 16 now comes with a powerful 48-megapixel main camera, which combines 48-megapixel and 12-megapixel photos into a clearer 24-megapixel image. It also has a 2x telephoto zoom option using the middle 12-megapixel of the sensor, along with a faster f/1.6 aperture for better low-light shots. The Pro models have also added autofocus feature to the triple camera setup.
One of the key highlights is the inclusion of Apple Intelligence in the standard iPhone 16 models. This AI-powered feature can understand and generate languages, images, and more, with Apple promising that data is never stored or shared, thanks to its private cloud computing and verifiable privacy promises.
With the iPhone 16 series, Apple is also improving productivity by summarising emails and prioritising notifications.
